█░ Tony Bennett and great songs simply belong ░█
█░ together. Here, on one of his best-ever ░█
█░ collections the supreme saloon singer ░█
█░ interprets 20 classics from one of the finest, ░█
█░ wittiest American songbooks and the results ░█
█░ are timeless. ░█
█░ ░█
█░ Sleevenotes ░█
█░ Tony Bennett Swings Rodgers And Hart ░█
█░ ░█
█░ Tony Bennett is a force of nature. With no ░█
█░ evidence of a Sinatra-style decline in his vocal ░█
█░ powers, the last surviving jazz-inflected ░█
█░ crooner of his generation sounds as good in ░█
█░ his mid-seventies as he ever did. That the ░█
█░ MTV generation treat him in the 21st century ░█
█░ with as much respect and love from as ░█
█░ seasoned lovers of the Great American ░█
█░ Popular Songbook is a testament to the ░█
█░ timelessness of his artistry. However, in the ░█
█░ æ70s and æ80s, BennettÆs style of adult pop ░█
█░ was out of fashion, and rather than ░█
█░ compromise his aesthetic to what he ░█
█░ considered the unrefined musical climate, he ░█
█░ pursued his projects away from major record ░█
█░ companies, notably for his own label, Improv. ░█
█░ One of his first schemes was to record, in ░█
█░ September 1973, a sack of songs by the ░█
█░ vintage Broadway songwriting team of ░█
█░ composer Richard Rodgers and lyricist ░█
█░ Lorenz Hart in the company of quartet co-led ░█
█░ by cornettist Ruby Braff and guitarist George ░█
█░ Barnes. The result was a series of charming ░█
█░ sides delivered in an intimate chamber jazz ░█
█░ style (later tastefully augmented by ░█
█░ overdubbed rhythm section and orchestra and ░█
█░ edited-in jazz solos) that stands among the ░█
█░ finest of BennettÆs recordings. WeÆre proud to ░█
█░ present here the complete Tony Bennett ░█
█░ Swings Rodgers And Hart. ░█
