Taken from the promotional press release:
Slovo is the remarkable new band of former Faithless guitarist Dave Randall.
The debut single lifted from the album entitled 'nommo' due for release in
the Summer is called 'Sertao Blues'. The track was written by Dave Randall
during his travels in the North Eastern region of "Sertao" in Brazil. Moved
by the magic of the place, Dave took out the small travel guitar that still
appears on the final recording of the song, and wrote 'Sertao Blues'. The
lyrics recall a conversation that Dave had late one night with slovo rapper
Anthony DeMore. It raises questions about the role of a black performer in
the entertainment industry and resonates with anyone who knows what it is to
be misunderstood. The track is an undeniably original mix of rough and smooth.
It's pure and gentle vocals are delivered from Slovo singer Kirsty Hawkshaw
formerly of Opus 3 and are coupled with the funky blues guitar riff and heavy
heavy bass lines which will put any sound system to the test. The package
comes with top quality remixes from NY Dream (Richard Norris), Ibi and Goetz
and Smallboy.
