     RELEASE NOTES

"One of the most interesting and captivating
albums the scene has ever produced..." iDJ (5/5)
The release of Merka's debut album in March
spawned a whole host of praise with everyone from
F Communications' Laurent Garnier to Ninja Tune's
Solid Steel radio resident J Mountain queuing up
to shake the hand of the man who has injected a
breath of fresh air into the electronic music
     scene. The mish-mash, genre-clashing approach
that Beserka flaunted has been vindicated a
millionfold with the resulting flurry of
superlative-laden activity in music press across
the globe and a recent nomination in DJ Mag's
Best Of British Awards. A barrage of remix
requests have followed since the album's release,
so Fat! decided it was about time to unleash a
few new takes. Cue this brand new remix EP
featuring cuts from Rec Records tech house madman
Chris Carter, Mantra's hot new talent Blatta &
Inesha and Fat! Record's own legend re-born
Unique 3. "My Spaceship" is tweaked and teased by
     Chris into a tightly-treated,
     impeccably-programmed electroid globule of
mind-bending percussion and cheeky synth stabs.
In keeping with the original's tongue-in-cheek
attitude, the layers of squeaks & bleeps are
still present, but with Chris crazy-ass Carter
applying his unmistakable brand of 4/4 funk.
Blatta & Inesha showcase Mantra's recent move
toward the electro house scene with their
big-boned, bass-line attack on "Something Like
This". This mix is all about the ripping sub-line
which cuts through the track with more
determination than a London bus-driver caught in
the rush hour. Utilising the Japanimation vocal
snippets to great effect, B&I have created a
shuffly, electro-tinged roller that should find a
place amongst a wide array of sets. Unique 3
takes on the epic "Act Now", treating it with
deserved respect and preserving what makes the
original so great with an early hours,
     lighter-waving anthem. Merka's melodic chords &
epic vocal chants are lifted to even greater
levels of atmospheric bliss by the addition of
Unique 3's trademark catchy fuzz-bass riffs and
growly rumbles. Watch out - this one gives you
     wings (without the caffeine hangover).
