     Few musicians can boast as much funk as Matthew Herbert, much less
     enforce it with as much musical clout.  His musicality began at the
     tender age of four years with violin and piano, and extended
     throughout his adolescence with various performances.  Son of a BBC
     sound engineer, his own love for music technology drove him to
     accumulate enough equipment for a modest studio by the time he
     entered Exeter University, where he would study drama.  Drawing on
     his lush musical background, he could create the music he wanted in
     his own manner, while developing his philosophies about performance
     and music.

     With encouragement from Tom and Mark from Global Communication,
     said philosophies would eventually manifest themselves in a
     dancefloor environment.  Herbert's onstage antics have entertained
     the bedazzled onlookers worldwide; he has been known to 'play' all
     types of apparatus - drills, typewriters, softdrink cans, even a
     replica of his own kitchen, employing sampling techniques he had
     developed for theatre music.  In 1994, he would return to London to
     expand his electronic horizons, releasing three landmark records in
     1996.  Since then, Herbert has earned respect under different
     guises (Doctor Rockit, Wishmountain, Radio Boy), producing and
     remixing his way into the hearts of discerning electronic
     enthusiasts.

     AMG EXPERT REVIEW:

     With the addition of vocalist Dani Siciliano on several tracks,
     Around the House is much more suited to straight-ahead dance music
     than Herbert's previous work. The deep liquid basslines and
     staccato kitchen-sink percussion (reminiscent of a more skeletal
     Chic) are working in support of something ù namely, Siciliano's
     languorous vocals ù and Herbert proves quite adept at backing a
     singer.
