When Tom Giles got his first 8-bit micro-computer he knew
immediately that his life would never be the same again. The
imperfect charm of the cumbersome bitmap font, the sweet
anticipation as the five and a quarter inch floppy whirred and
clicked its way through byte after byte. At last, he thought, the
future has arrived! Years have passed and the 8-bit future with it,
but not for Giles. With his digital heritage at the forefront of
his mind he has crafted six tracks of shiny electronic funk for his
DC debut. With influences from dub to p-funk to old fashioned
rhythm and blues jostling for a place in the mix, Clause Four's
music has one foot in the world of electronic hip hop (think Dabrye
or Phon.o) and another in some distant retro funk future where a
cybernetic George Clinton is body popping to a machine-made groove.
With guest vocals from Nancy Elizabeth Cunliffe, (courtesy of Leaf
Recordings), and La Boca's fantastic artwork, DC is proud to
present this astonishing debut.
