Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, It's Michael Mayer and
Superpitcher collaborating on a concept album.
It doesn't happen very often but every once in a while along comes
that record where you can actually hear the ease and delight that
the musician's experienced during the process of recording the
songs... the union of KOMPAKT's most loved DJ's, SUPERPITCHER and
MICHAEL MAYER fittingly have united as SUPERMAYER to produce what
is without any doubt one of these kind of albums - a labor of love
and creative leap for both artists that we expect to keep you
grinning ear to ear from beginning to end.
Sure, there's evil out there and who needs another hero right?
Then the na∩ve will surely balk and cry at the title being SAVE THE
WORLD as a pretentious artistic statement. Folks, all you have to
do is look below that shallow surface and realize it's just part of
the highly entertaining storyline that the album is audibly and
visually set to.
SUPERMAYER are magically brought to life by renown Daily Kat /
Frankfurter Allgemeine illustrator Kat Menschik (which is included
in the gatefold vinyl and CD versions). There will be other
villains may cry - who needs a techno TOMMY? Evil can be so
misunderstood...so misunderstood.
Dance music and it's culture have well earned it's place to be one
of the most extravagant sources of music and entertainment on the
planet, so it's fair game that SUPERMAYER are there to take you out
of this world.
Then there's the music - never has there been an album on KOMPAKT
that's reached into so many different pockets of musical bliss - a
trumpet, saxophone, acoustic guitar, melodica, flute, a vast array
of percussive instruments and even a gong are just a handful of
gizmos they both put to use recording SAVE THE WORLD. The songs are
never taken too far and are certain to not disappoint longtime
fans. Bets are on that SAVE THE WORLD will get many of those
anti-electronic purists off their chairs! SUPERMAYER have come up
with what we feel is a musical achievement for KOMPAKT and both of
