RELEASE NOTES
After a sold out EP (2004) Poropetra is finally back with a debut full lenght
album which is something very unique; called "Sinihirwi"(The Blue Elk), first
press limited to 250 copies. Poropetra includes members from Korpiklaani and
Nostatus.
Poropetra's musical base is in traditional Finno-Ugric music cultures, in
Tuvinian throat-singing, yoik, in ethnic music altogether with some modern
metal elements. Lyrics are written in finnish and they are straight continuum to
an old Finno-Karelian folk poetry.
The band uses instruments like for instance 5- and 12-string kantele, shaman
drum, drums, congas, udu, Tibetan singing bowl, spoons, hands, cattle-calling
bells, maracass, pipes, mouth harp, violin, bass and this alltogether brings
upa combination of something not heard before.
