Credits flies out to the honourable sceners from MGC, WUS, i, RAC, ESC
TR, CMS and old ppl from CDA, RDA, RNS, aPC, diss, iMPG and FuFFENS!

We do this for the fun of it, we aint earn a penny. Remember that, its
the basic rules of engagement. The music scene has served the digital
poeple, and the last years more "ordinary" ppl, with a format that the
mp3playing generation desire. If the music industries analyst's back
in the end of 90's wouldn't had said: "No, Internet is not our way to
distribute the music in the future, CD's is the future!" We don't think
the music scene would be as strong as it is today. So.. thank you for
letting us develop without a contest. For fuck sake... make you're cat-
aluges streamble and drm-free, and if the industry feel that their
middlehands got hurted, well think about our Earth. Its way better for
our environment to d/l via internet then drive/take a bus to closest
cd-shop or even worst... order a single CD from a country far from home
just because its 7 USD cheaper there... Take care of you're Customers
and our Environment! Over and out...

>Bobby Hutcherson -> vibes and marimba
Herbie Hancock -> piano
Bob Cranshaw -> bass
Joe Chambers -> drums

Originally recorded on February 6, 1966 at the Van Gelder Studio
Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey. Remastered 2006 by Rude Van Gelder.

Bobby Hutcherson's first quartet outing, Happenings, casts the
brightest spotlight on the vibraphonist's soloing abilities, matching
him once again with pianist Herbie Hancock (who is also heavily
featured) and drummer Joe Chambers, plus bassist Bob Cranshaw. For that
matter, the album also leans heavily on Hutcherson's compositional
skills; save for Hancock's "Maiden Voyage," six of the seven numbers
are Hutcherson originals. Given his reputation as a modernist, most of
the pieces here are structured pretty simply -- there's a lot of
straightforward modal hard bop, giving Hutcherson and Hancock plenty
of room to solo.

They handle much of the material with a light, mellow touch, trading
off meditative licks even on the more up-tempo pieces and poignant,
lyrical lines on the ballads "Bouquet" and "When You Are Near." The
two exceptions are the opening and closing numbers:"Aquarian Moon" is
challenging post-bop, while the sinister "The Omen" finds Hutcherson
opening up the bag of tricks he learned from the freely structured
group dialogues Chambers wrote for albums past.

Sharp stabs from the piano signal transition to a new, sometimes
unaccompanied lead instrument, and Hutcherson's darting marimba lines
build up a claustrophobic tension. That doesn't change the overall feel
of the album, though, which ends up a charmingly relaxed, low-key
outing and a nice addition to Hutcherson's Blue Note catalog.

>Short information about Bobby

Easily one of jazz's greatest vibraphonists, Bobby Hutcherson
epitomized his instrument in relation to the era in which he came
of age the way Lionel Hampton did with swing or Milt Jackson with bop.

He isn't as well-known as those two forebears, perhaps because he
started out in less-accessible territory when he emerged in the '60s
playing cerebral, challenging modern jazz that often bordered on
avant-garde. Along with Gary Burton, the other seminal vibraphone
talent of the '60s, Hutcherson helped modernize his instrument by
redefining what could be done with it -- sonically, technically,
melodically, and emotionally. In the process, he became one of the
defining (if underappreciated) voices in the so-called "new thing"
portion of Blue Note's glorious '60s roster. Hutcherson gradually
moved into a more mainstream, modal post-bop style that, if not as
adventurous as his early work, still maintained his reputation as one
of the most advanced masters of his instrument.
