Accordionist Richard Galliano has succeeded, through his musical emphasis on
melody, rhythm and harmony, in imposing his instrument in musical contexts that
previously ignored it: jazz festivals (MontrΘal, etc.) and classical to
revitalise a musical tradition, expanding its emotional range to reflect modern
sensibilities, and opening it up to improvisation learned through jazz.
"Marciac 2006 was certainly one of the most beautiful concerts of my lifeà A
large and attentive audience, a warm ambient, a mythic placeà A month later we
would record Luz Negra with the same band in Sπo Paulo. I like to practice with
my new band on stage before entering the recording studio. It was memorable
night û and the birth of a new band, Tangaria." - Richard Galliano
