│release notes.
Remember the days when every record out of seemed like a fresh
signal from outer space and we didn't worry so much about slotting
each track in some genre context? LHAS Inc. (Larry Heard
Appreciation Society) clearly do.
Soulseduction says "L.H.A.S. Inc. . is the collaboration between
Jaime Read and Felix Dickinson. The pair met ten years ago in a
record shop in Brighton. Their friendship and musical connection
grew while D.Jing together at The Joint nightclub where they were
residents for five years. Jamie Read produced as L.H.A.S. for the
label Push to Shove in the early 90's. He also went under his own
name for a few releases on Ugly Music and Fragmented, later
releasing the album "The End Of The Beginning" on
Fragmented/Slip'n'Slide. Felix Dickinson spent a few days in the
studio with Jamie in 2002 and L.H.A.S. became L.H.A.S. Inc.. That
session they recorded "Reasons" and "Ports", which were signed by
W.A.X records from L.A.. "Reasons" was remixed by Undercover Agency
( J.T. Donaldson and Lance Disardi) and released in 2003."
The music is lovingly crafted echoes of the early Detroit, Network
etc. sound with "New Line" in particular sounding like an outtake
from "Galaxy 2 Galaxy" and "LHAS Attack" coming on like an early
Trent Holmes Clubhouse Records joint.
The record itself is a mysterious artifact that does it's best to
ape the raw urgent style of those early underground releases. As
far as the release date, discogs ain't sayin' but one retail had it
down as 2006 release and we picked it up recently so there you have
it. If it is from the early 90s, well, there you have it.
