Early french techno essential compilation from the now defunct FNAC
Music label, that would later become today's much respected F-
Communications still releasing the works of some of todays well
established artists. Music ranges from house to techno, influenced
for some tracks by the ambient works of Eye Q pionneer Sven Vath
(he even remixed one of Laurent Garnier's track here).
This selection somehow reflects the label's aliases strategy or
simply the freedom of Fnac's artists to experiment under various
disguises. On this double-CD we have the prolific Ludovic Navarre
(Deepside, St Germain, Deep Contest, Modus Vivendi, Choice, Aurora
Borealis, Orange), Shazz (Aurora Borealis, Soofle, Orange), Laurent
Garnier (Choice, Alaska), DJ Deep (Deep Contest), Stephane Dri aka
ScanX, Lunatic Asylum, as well as guests Ln's, Dave Angel, Suburban
Knight and Feedback.
This comes out from back in the days of Techno Import and the first
attempts of the embryonic french/parisian electronic music
community to set up bigger events, and the first stupid last-moment
harassing & forbiddings of parties by the authorities.
Happy that the label & artists grew stronger, as we did with them.

PS to nukers: some weeks ago, a VA was released as F-Communications
Chapter 1 supposed to have been issued in 1996. No .nfo file was
available. I couldn't find any http info and it doesn't seem to
appear in any Fnac/F-Communications discography i found (for
example at http://ad.techno.org/fcommunications.html and
http://ad.techno.org/fnac.html). My release is the original VA and
has one "bonus" track 11 on each CD. I felt that this essential
compilation deserved a full and original rip (check
http://www.discogs.com/release/585 for example). To the unknown
ripper: take no offense and feel free to drop by at our channel.
