| X | an emcee whose capabilities lie deeply rooted in a multi-syllable | X |
| X | flow, varying cadences, and an unabashed emotional depth that | X |
| X | many artists carefully avoid as a result of Hip Hops ubiquitously | X |
| X | superficial machismo. Add to that a forceful delivery entrenched | X |
| X | in a guttural baritone that echoes both triumph and tragedy and | X |
| X | you have a multitalented free spirit with a lot on his mind and a | X |
| X | willingness to express it all with youthful exuberance. Jun is | X |
| X | the last child of two hard-working Jamaican parents who inhabited | X |
| X | the infamous Southside Jamaica, Queens in the mid-70s. The | X |
| X | prevalence of drugs and violence coexisted with Juns amazing | X |
| X | academic achievements, allowing the fledgling emcee to experience | X |
| X | the best and worst of the world at a young age. Rhyming seriously | X |
| X | since 17, Jun was beating on cafeteria tables and trying to | X |
| X | impress his high school peers. It was here where he realized how | X |
| X | innovative punchlines coupled with a smooth, bouncy flow was most | X |
| X | effective in captivating an audience. Yet it took the trials and | X |
| X | tribulations of early recordings to perfect that one thing | X |
| X | missing at the time the voice. "I hated my voice for the | X |
| X | longest!", chuckles Junclassic, "It sounded all nasally and weak. | X |
| X | It took years, but I finally began to dig my voice after a few | X |
| X | shorties said they were diggin it. Thats when I knew I finally | X |
| X | had something." Confident that he developed his swagger, Jun | X |
| X | began hitting the open mic circuit during his college years. Add | X |
| X | to that several years of small time hustling, a penchant for | X |
| X | getting harassed by undercover police, and the harsh reality of | X |
| X | racial subjugation experienced at dead end jobs as well as his | X |
| X | higher institution of learning and Junclassics rhymes got | X |
| X | rougher, realer, and political. Jun has rocked the stage of B.B. | X |
| X | Kings, ran through Club Cheetah, chewed up the China Club, and | X |
| X | jammed at Joes Pub in the Village, to name a few places. His | X |
| X | stage show explodes with unbridled energy. "The crowd does what | X |
| X | the emcee does. So if you just standing there how can you expect | X |
| X | your audience to move? You gotta lead em. And never be afraid. | X |
| X | Theyre only people!" Nearly two years ago, Junclassic took up | X |
| X | production as the result of bad politics with a few past | X |
| X | collaborators. He insists on making instrumentals without the | X |
| X | crutch of samples by utilizing a keyboard. "The dudes people | X |
| X | sample aint sample nobody! Im trying to get to their level. Plus, | X |
| X | I love the challenge of coming up with something innovative and | X |
| X | original. That has always been my driving force with the rhymes, | X |
| X | so why not keep it going with the beats?" Continuing to challenge | X |
| X | himself is Juns passion, now all he needs is the ear of the | X |
| X | people. | X |
