Naked Funk are back with a vocalist, Valerie Etienne letting rip
over their cleanly futuristic beats and bass. This first killer
from their soon to be released æEvolution EndingÆ album comes in
with mixes from spacer and DJ Springer, and should be played very
loud to get the full picture. The album will be out soon and, like
their first, is pure joy in ten tracks.

Naked Funk release their third outing on Howie BÆs Pussyfoot
label. The duo have put together one of the best breakbeat vocal
tracks since GoldieÆs æInner City LifeÆ. The vocals come courtesy
of former Galliano leading lady Valerie Etienne. There are four
mixes to choose from but check the B2 remix if you like the beats
mashed up and served on a bed of funk and bass. Outstanding.

When Naked Funk dropped their first album æValiumÆ on unsuspecting
ears back in æ96 beatheads worldwide freaked to their
extra-terrestial blend of tech funk and naked electro - even porn
star Tawny Peaks tracked them down to say thanks for the
mammaries! Since then Jony Rockstar (beats genius / DJ /
occasional sex-line thespian) and Jeremy Shaw (analogue synth
supremo / guitarist /sine-wave assassin) have produced, remixed
and collaborated with artists including Howie B, Adam Clayton,
Robbie Robertson, Junior Delgado and Imogen Heap as well as
releasing the tracks æPleasing The KoreanÆ and æHelium 3Æ on
Pussyfoot. Soon the irrepressible duoÆs long-awaited second album
æEvolution EndingÆ will be released but in the meantime check out
æThe FanÆ, a taster of the shape of sounds to come. The Radio Edit
is a slice of futuristic soul featuring the powerful vocals of
former Galliano singer Valerie Etienne. Her voice wrenches out a
lament that batters and carresses the ears with speeding
electronics and spatial chords completing the scenario. The DJ
Springer Mix beefs up the beats for a cut of emotive club pressure
that will rock the dance each and every time. Flip it and youÆll
find sonic terrorist Spacer underpinning her vocals with moody
strings and a fierce modulating bassline that takes no prisoners.
Last but not least is another track off the forthcoming LP -
æAlone With YouÆ is a pulsing, trance-inducing groove with layers
of rhythm strobing over each other. Guitar bursts pierce the break
and the beat goes on - youÆre locked in for the ride.....
