Release Notes:
The terminology used to describe the band is as diverse as the musical
influences that have helped mold their sound into what can only be described as
Bixler.
"How would you describe it?" counters frontman Lee Cooke, when asked the same
about the similar - yet unique - quality of Bixler's music.
"Fun Rock. That's what we call it." - Cooke confesses.
One can easily draw that conclusion upon hearing the first few seconds of "On
and On," a driving song packed full of creative vocals and a very crafty hook.
ClaytonÆs tight riffs and CulbreathÆs energetic drumming are evident in the
straight-ahead rock and roll of ôFalling to Pieces.ö The raw emotion conveyed by
Cooke in the intriguing ôLoserÆs Day Paradeö draw the listener into the songs û
a feat not easily accomplished.
ôWeÆve been going at this for a long time,ö sayÆs Clayton. HeÆs not joking.
Cooke and Clayton founded the band û formerly Jonas û in 1999, in Charlestown,
South Carolina.
The duo picked up Culbreath when they moved to Nashville, Tennessee, in 2000.
Still playing under the name Jonas, the guys recorded and self-released a full
length CD, titled ôàdrive ætil morningö and logged more than 100 shows - all
over the South - within three years
A whirlwind of change and external factors lead to a name change, a new 5 song
EP û titled ôMoving Onö, a year and a half hiatus, and a new band member û bass
player Jason Parker.
Focused, determined and stronger than ever, Bixler entered the studio in the
spring of 2005 to record their new EP, simply titled ôthe new ep.ö
With nearly a dozen shows currently booked in the next 2 and a half months,
Bixler is out doing what they love to do û sharing their music.
The self-described "fun rock" title, without doubt, applies to Bixler's live
show. Aside from perfection musically, the band strives to engage each and every
participant at their shows. From jumping around and using each inch of the stage
to Cooke's entertaining banter with the crowd - it's a show many won't soon
forget.
Aside from their passion for playing live and the dedication of their loyal
fans, the fuel that propels Bixler is the desire to deliver the rock to the
world û a task that they are fully capable of accomplishing.
