PART TWO OF THE DOUBLE EARLEYBIRD ALBUM "TWO BIRDS WITH ONE STONE" originally
released September 11th, 2007.
Coming off of the success of his NOVA area masterpiece that took two years to
create, Earleybird delivers another classic masterpiece with his upcoming album
"GET THAT WORM!!" which was started in late 2006. At only twelve tracks long
this album serves as a quick and thorough look into the more hustle oriented
pace of life that Earleybird has been enduring since the release of "Things Are
Not What They Seem". While TANWTS concentrated on more esoteric flows, heavy
subject matter, and pushing the boundaries of hip-hop music and production, it
also had a more somber, slow tempo and contemplative pace to it. TANWTS is a
reflective album with deep meaning and time and effort put into every phrase and
bassline. It was made with the intent to be heard primarily in solitude or
during long meditative walks with headphones on. "GET THAT WORM!!" showcases
Earleybird's versatility by being a stark contrast to the brooding production
and haunting lyric imagery of TANWTS. While TANWTS gives a more personal and
introspective approach to the spiritual struggle, "GET THAT WORM!!" is more
focused on the struggle of living in a capitalist structure and trying to eat
and prosper.
Although certain songs dabble in political issues, most songs on "GET THAT
WORM!!" revolve around two central aspects of pursuit- MONEY and WOMEN. With
faster paced tempos and more danceable tracks, this album is meant to fit in
more in a club environment or while driving in a car with a booming system.
Earleybird simplifies his flow and content in a way that doesn't sacrifice his
writing ability or skill, and he gives more emphasis to his flow and making the
rhyme schemes less abstract than previous albums. For people who were claiming
that TANWTS was too "abstract" "GET THAT WORM!!" is the perfect opposite in the
fact that many of the songs have a more "mainstream" sound and are easy to
listen to and understand. D-VO, K-BETA and SEEZ MICS both make memorable
appearances and show how talented the region really is. Production is handled by
some of NOVA's finest producers, Earleybird, Skip 2 My Left, DJ Wrekless and
Kevlar. For people who complained that his previous efforts were too
"underground", "GET THAT WORM" posseses many marketable and radio friendly songs
that should quiet that haters and prove that Earleybird can flow with the best
of them, without forcing his style, watering it down or sounding contrived.
Honest, real hip-hop that the average working class man can relate too.
