| "Playing now" is an appropriate name for this work. Produced in |
| the unique Station Rose method. |
| |
| A multimedia jam session (Gary Danner: Music, Elisa Rose: |
| Visuals) begins as a flow in the studio - on the workstations |
| connected through MIDI- where structures are developed, a beat |
| is chosen |
| and then, only after ecstatic hours of creating, when the brand |
| new track looks ripe, it is saved on the right medium (Video, |
| DAT, Internet, etc.). |
| |
| According to the concept of the Gunafa Label, (which Station |
| Rose started in 1993, releasing audio products as well as |
| cd-roms), the 12 tracks from the new CD can be seen as |
| snapshots from a certain artistic period, which have a wide & |
| diverse spectrum of styles. |
| |
| One could describe the opener "Mini Hub & Baby Hub" with its |
| lascivious vocals, sensual reverb room & heavy modulated |
| electronic beats, as Saint-Tropez-Techno, (- btw, a Mini/Baby |
| Hub is a network-interface -), while the gloomy mechanics of |
| "Distortion Sandwich" or "leichte Uebung" |
| create a dialectic through its monotonous beats & floating |
| harmonies that could be called aggressive metropolitain ambient |
| . |
| |
| On the other hand the Drum & Bass for Adults tracks "kurzer |
| Schatten", "Alice" and "Test Star Five" are enriched with |
| hidden melody lines & tricky beats, whereby the panorama of the |
| sounds- & song structures reminds of soundtracks, doped with |
| jazzy keyboards & psychedelic strings. The Viennese origin of |
| Station Rose shines brightly through these tracks, attracting |
| attention with simulated naivity mixed with malicious irony. |
| The proverbial Viennese melancholy comes clearly through, |
| substituting omnipresent cynical rationalism . |
| The two tracks "A Quantum Process" & "Rambling" are vocal |
| tracks with fragments of the sampled voice of Elisa Rose as |
| well as the sampled guitar of Gary Danner standing on the |
| treshold of pop and experiment. A clear negative reply is given |
| to mainstream commercial sound-aesthetics, so |
| far as these tracks are, besides all its hookline-quality & |
| opulence of the melody, consequently structured in a |
| minimalistic way ; as well as creating a disquieting and sombre |
| atmosphere through the reduced but efficiently used Roland |
| analogsynths. Concerning the structure, these two tracks |
| reveal the earliest musical roots of Gary Danner, whose 1st |
| record ever bought was "Spoon" of the band "Can", purchased in |
| the early 70's. |

| Together with many of the audiotracks of the album, videotracks |
| have been created in the multimedia-jamsessions. They are |
| available for TV stations in DV-format on demand. And they are |
| played at live-webcasts <www.stationrose.com> |
| |
| With "Playing now" Station Rose again reinforces its reputation |
| as an original force inside the electronic musikscene, which |
| unfolds more & more each time you listen to the CD. |
