Release Notes:
--------
A tumultuous churning abuse of recording time. A turbulent expression of
nihilism. Two people engaged in a doomed waltz upon the precipice of sanity.
Magik MarkersÆ third album soundtracks the rattling fever inside everybodyÆs bad
mood. Using the simple tools of feedback and noise guitar, drums and the
occasional bout of piano, Elisa Imbrogio and Pete Nolan do what The Kills try to
do with garage rock. Elisa vocalises her seduction, her pain and her musings
with the style of PJ Harvey and the delivery of Kim Gordon.
ItÆs ultra repetitive to the point of dΘjα vu. However, where this would usually
drag until death, because of the ominous voodoo saturating the atmosphere
emanating from within the rumbling, itÆs more like being hypnotized.
Just like the Velvet Underground and Sonic Youth before them, their approach is
maverick and drone like, more interested in slowly hammering the chisel through
your skull, inch by inch. This sounds unpleasant, and in some ways it feels that
way, but progress is always painful, as is pleasure, and youÆre bound to find
something of each here.
Body Rot has the more immediate effect, while Last of the Lemach Line is a
slowburner that leans on your consciousness til it invades like an overwhelming
wave of depression.
