Surgeon selected three tracks from his longplayer
"Balance" to introduce his more experimental side,
expressing consequently and accurately the emotional
content he' s conveying on that album . His reworkings of
"Box" and "Set One" and Mick Harris' (ex-Drummer of Napalm
Death/Scorn) remake of "Dialogue" point it out: the
physical experiences of experimental contemplative sounds
to decibels raised to club level.
"Box", the original and "Box Version II" are both deep
percussive tracks dominated with bass while Pt. II creates
a much darker atmosphere. For "Set One II" Surgeon
broadened the base structure with added beats and much
deeper texture. The original is the short "intro" from the
album' s C-Side.
During "Dialogue" Mick Harris begins his absolutely unique
"discussion" with Surgeon, taking the bizarre effects of
the original into a dark 10-minute session of black
Birmingham worship with edgy but laid-back rhythms and
mood. Cult.
