. spinner before him. But in recent years, Terry has taken .
. on a leaner, robotic sound that favors steely techno and .
. Mantronix-like electro over the humanity and giddiness of .
. garage techno and ambient house of Wink and Armand Van .
. Helden. Resolutions is the best example of Terry's .
. experiments in half-humanity so far. The speaker-popping .
. dub-toasted voices, home PC noises and metal grinding .
. effects help lend his bumper-bugging, robot-body-popping .
. music a ghostly feel. "Blackout" flashes by in a cymbal- .
. crashing blast. "My Style" is elbow-stretching future .
. funk full of "yo!"s and cowbells from a third dimension. .
. With its crisp commercial hints of jungle (think Roni .
. Size meets Bowie's Earthling meets New Order) and breathy .
. Vocoder, "Let It Ride" is a steely hybrid of electric .
. rage and flutey soul that earmarks much of Resolutions. .
. Still, the finest moments are Terry's softer, innocent .
. jazz tracks that merge rubbery bebop and hip-hop within a .
. Kraftwerkian frame. Resolutions is a masterful, if not .
. perfect work. .
