It's with a heavy heart and open arms that I am announcing the release of the
Mancub album.
For those of you who don't know about Mancub, who he was or what he was
about, it's a long story to tell. I first met Ben & Cayce when they were in
high school, and we had become great friends, both of them helped me run my
record label and really kept my spirits up. When things were hard, they were
there.
On May 31st, a terrible car accident claimed their lives and the life of
their friend Joe Waffles (he was in a band called BIRD NOISES), he was
playing mandolin and slide guitar with Ben on tour. We had just recorded
this album and were about to release it in a few weeks, after lots of
personal conflict and worry, I have decided to go ahead and release it with a
few changes to honor the memories of my friends that I loved.
ALL MONEY MADE FROM THIS RELEASE WILL BE DONATED.
All three of them were vegan and proud of it, they had been since I met them.
Most of the money will go to Richmond's own Vegan Action ( www.vegan.org )
and a small portion of the money will be donated to a cause that us here at
Valiant Death support, the New Vrindaban Community in West Virginia (
www.newvrindaban.com )
This CD features 13 songs recently recorded by Ben, Joe, and myself as well
as older Mancub tracks we recorded in 2005, songs by Negative Threat (a
shortlived powerviolence band Ben sung for), videos of Mancub, the
Snorklewacker video Ben starred in, pictures, and everything else we could
find to remember these people by.
We will only be making a limited number of these CDs, it's being sold for $5
and almost all of that is going to go to charity. Our goal is to raise $1000
to support Vegan Action, something these people felt very strongly about.
Even if you never heard Mancub, please pick up this CD and enjoy it, get one
for a friend, or whatever. I only want this music to live on, and I want
everyone who loved these people and this music to have something physical to
hold on to, and some great music to cherish forever.
