in the space of barely a couple of releases has managed to make both the techno and dubstep
communities sit up and take note. His 12" under the 2562 moniker for the Tectonic label has been the
fastest selling and most sought-after record on the label to date, and his involvement with the Soloaction
crew for their "Remixes In Four Parts" series has quite easily been the most notable contribution to the
label in the last 12 months - we just cant tell you how many queries we've had about it. This immense new
12" for Soloaction's occasional Subsolo offshoot harnesses the seemingly disparate strands dominating
Huismans work and delivers a dubstep/breaks/technoid hybrid that's surely one of the year's most exciting,
most advanced dancefloor tools. We'll head for the b-side here first, "699" sounding not a million miles
removed from Dego's Cousin Cockroach project, with the edits tightened up, the basslines pummelled into
a heaving mass of low-end and the percussion stripped into a bare-bones structure that even ardent
minimalists would be proud of. The result is an absolute dancefloor killer that just OWNS this much touted
generic merging, with techno and dubstep heads alike sure to claim it as their own. "Sleepwalk" on the flip
is much closer stylistically to Shed's own work, a Detroit techno variation complete with clipped synths and
atmospheric changes designed for maximal emotive engagement, with only that sick low-end anchoring
the track to the dubstep references mentioned above. Regardless of the generic innovations lavished on
this gifted producer, listening to this killer twelve will leave you certain of one thing - Dave Huismans is a
