        |       | Having bypassed the rave scene because of     |       |
        |       | being "too young or too boring" Acrylic first |       |
        |       | discovered drum and bass when he was part of  |       |
        |       | a band. There were obviously close parallels  |       |
        |       | between the rhythms that he was striking and  |       |
        |       | the patterns being used in breakbeat and      |       |
        |       | drum and bass.                                |       |
        |       |                                               |       |
        |       | Not experiencing the rave scene and subsequent|       |
        |       | branching off of different scenes has been    |       |
        |       | to Owen's advantage. Where some find if       |       |
        |       | difficult to break the mould, Owen is more    |       |
        |       | concerned with "just making good music and not|       |
        |       | be put into one genre or restricted".         |       |
        |       |                                               |       |
        |       | Owen claims his mother's classical guitar has |       |
        |       | had some influence over him but other than    |       |
        |       | that no other contemporary inspirations or    |       |
        |       | influences come to mind. However, Owen says   |       |
        |       | he hasn't been able to put down Herbie        |       |
        |       | Hancock lately who he regards as the "don".   |       |
        |       |                                               |       |
        |       | Acrylic took pole position on track order of  |       |
        |       | the recent 21st Century Grooves LP on Pivotal |       |
        |       | [PIVOTAL4CD]. For those who haven't heard the |       |
        |       | album, Two Step Shuffle introduces the 21st   |       |
        |       | Century compilation into the smoothest, most  |       |
        |       | laid back, down tempo excursion you could     |       |
        |       | imagine. Whilst in contrast a few tracks on,  |       |
        |       | Gaia Funk, is a number that will send any     |       |
        |       | floor into a funked up frenzy.                |       |
        |       |                                               |       |
        |       | Both these tracks are taken from this debut   |       |
        |       | EP, OP Factor. CD also contains these tracks: |       |
        |       | Systematics, OP Factor, Two Step Shuffle,     |       |
        |       | Sub One, Fear and Tricknology & Soda.         |       |
