Way Out Way, comprised of Nick Warren & Jody Wisternoff, have been great
influencers of dance music, They are outstanding and brilliant producers
as their repertoire of remixes and original work has proven. After
witnessing much of their material generating buzz around the world, such
as "The Gift," and "Blue," there can be no doubt that WOW is a pioneer
of true underground club sounds. They also have produced and worked with
some of the biggest names in the industry. Their remixes have garnered
much attention and support from globe-trotting DJ's such as Sasha,
John Digweed, The Light, Hybrid, Timo Mass, Pappa, Slacker, not to
mention the unforgettable others. Their music is hard to describe as
they are a hybrid of a great number of styles; not exactly techno; not
exactly house; not exactly progressive house; not exactly trance; not
exactly breakbeat.
Their best works cover a wide range of musical variations, ranging from
tight solid dramatic building and dreamy trance (Liquid Child - Diving
Faces), to long heartfelt epic house journeys (The Tabernacle - I Know
the Lord) to lush and fluid breakbeat tracks (Lustral - Everytime, which
would be a perfect set closer around 8am) to progressive house/breakbeat
hybrids (Last Rhythm - Last Rhythm, a classic peak time tune which is
beautifully and carefully sculptured, and is favored by Dave Seaman and
many other DJ heavyweight champions. One could also say that their
approach and use of sounds is somewhat unique and complex, differing
from all others. WOW's trademark touches of warped sounds and tweaked
samples, combined with their use of deep emotional chords and vocals
makes for an unparalleled listening experience. Some of their tracks
incorporate spatial atmospherics with a tough grinding feel coupled
with a healthy dosage of drama and the built in mystery of the more
break driven trance anthem. Their serious heavyweight trance/progressive
house grooves linger in the listeners' heads for days on end.
Year 2000 sees the come back of WOW in producing and remixing; some of
their progressive tunes have already been selected to be included on
many DJ compilations, and have been caned heavily by all the superstars.
WOW has applied a magic touch on the ethereal yet groovy "WOW - The
Fall" to further their appeal on the dancefloor. This duo has gone from
strength to strength and has shown that they do improve and progress
with time. As far as how much better their work will become, it is
skyrocketing to unlimited heights.
