- Release Notes ------------------------------------------------------------- -

MaritimeÆs third album has gotten gruff and tough. Well, as tough as a band
more familiar with melancholy chords and soothing lyrics can get. Heresyà is
a step in a rock-driven direction, which theyÆve pulled off impressively. And
it should show with producer Stuart Sikes, whoÆs worked with such big indie
rock names as Cat Power and Modest Mouse, not to mention singer-guitarist
Davey von BohlenÆs little band Promise Ring; you might have heard of them.
Heresy has also led the band into a more stable lineup that shows throughout
the album with simple, tight rock beats and heavier guitars. Maritime has
pumped up the volume with Heresy. Even Von BohlenÆs vocals are cracking under
the weight of the controlled, melodic chaos of the album.
