The History
1988, 'The Summer Of Love' and the birth of a new culture in dance music. The Rave
scene was born and set out to break all the rules for raving at the weekend. Raves
like Energy and Sunrise were held at secret locations within the M25 region so that
we could have the freedom to party. It was all about peace, love, unity and self-
expression with a mind blowing atmosphere. This was the inspiration for Paul Ibiza
to start doing his own raves 'Fantastic Ibiza', as he wanted to give something back
to the British Rave Scene. Fantastic Ibiza was the first rave organisation to use
the same venue for 4 weeks in a row at Goods Way Kings X 1989 and built up a massive
following of 30,000 people. The police then decided to take action by sealing of all
roads that lead to the venue and confiscating their vehicles and sound systems. When
we lost the freedom to dance in the early 90's, Paul thought it was time to bring
his ideas into the studio he joined forces with James (Noise Factory) and Ibiza
Records was launched. The concept was to fuse the sounds in the U.S. Break Beats
with European Techno and Reggae Sounds, 'Jungle Techno' was born. The Label became
an instant succes and 'Limited E' was launched to help deal with strong demand for
Jungle Music. With artists withing the camp like C.M.C., Potential Bad Boy and Noise
Factory Ibiza Records were a force to be reckoned with.
James from Noise Factory decided it was time for him to start his own record label
and launched 3rd Party Records in 1993. This label soon developed a strong foothold
within the jungle scene and was highly respected by the jungle massive around the
world. In 1994 James decided that the jungle scene needed vocal material and launched
Kemet Records. Once again the label was an instant success with tracks like 'The Seed'
and 'Champions Of Champions'. They signed a major record deal with RCA and produced
an album with the Kemet Crew, they were also signed with Japanese record giants Avex.
Now that jungle has been established as the music for the raver, it was now time for
Paul to promote even more events in London. 'Jungle Splash' in Vietnam was his first
rave and that was held at the Rocket Club on the Holloway Road. This night was a
total sell out, it was already time to move to bigger premises. The Roller Express
was the venue for his next three events. The Boom, Lighter and Headstrong were
totally sold out with an attendance of over 10,000 people.
5 Years later he turned back to Kings X for the 'Jungle Hits' album launch party at
Bagleys (York way). This event featured live PA's from acts like Jnr Dangerous, MC
Shabba, UK Apache, Merlin, Half Pint and Elisabeth Troy, this night was a total
success yet again. The 'Jungle Hits' LP held his position at no 1 for over 6 weeks
in the National Album Charts.
This series of EP's is designed to give you the true sound of uUrban Jungle Music
that was hitting the streets of London from the true pioneers of the music scene.
Big shouts going out to all of you ravers, old and new who are keeping the British
Jungle scene alive. To Avex who are keeping the scene alive in Japan.
Compiled by: Paul 'Ibiza', James 'Noise Factory' and DJ Runtingz 'Suburban Base'.
Long live jungle.......

This release may contain copyrighted material, however SOUR guarantees
that this material was at least available to one person "on the street"
and that the possession of this material is in no way privileged.

SOUR has been releasing good quality drum & bass, jungle & oldskool rips
to the internet drum'n'bass public since summer 1999. Originally a small
operation, we have now reached levels of international acclaim.

SOUR is dedicated to both the availability and promotion of music to the
public, and our rips are intended to reflect these ideals. Specifically:

. SOUR is dedicated to the promotion of new music that is currently
available to buy. If you like something you hear, you are obliged to
attempt to purchase an original copy.

. SOUR is dedicated to the promotion of old music that may no longer be
available to buy.

. SOUR is dedicated to the expansion and infiltration of drum'n'bass
worldwide! We provide a service where none is available, specifically
in many remote countries where traditional distributors can not afford
to target. Also, the availability of drum & bass in an easily accessible
form expands the potential for real world sales to people who may not
otherwise have considered buying drum & bass.

. SOUR is dedicated to the expansion of the online and offline real world
scenes. With more listeners enjoying what they hear, clubs and venues
can only expect MORE people to attend events; DJ's can only expect MORE
people to pay to see THEM.

By accident of today's current real world distribution arrangements,
many artists will find that SOUR releases IMPROVE their real world
sales; especially for items only on vinyl. This is the basis upon
which SOUR operates.
