The album cover states, "On this album Gandalf uses computers
and synthesizer-electronics in combination with acoustic
instruments like piano, guitars, flutes, bells and percussion to
create a very subtle type of music that is not easy to
categorize. It contains elements from classical and minimal
music as well as Japanese pentatonic scales, structures from
rock music and pieces with celestial atmosphere.
You may call it ...soundtracks to imaginary films, .....acoustic
paintings or .....New Age music, it does not really matter....."
I couldn't agree more. This music is back to Gandalf's earlier
albums i.e. atmospheric sound painting, very mood creating
although it does have its progressive moments as can be found on
"Crystal Cascades" with Gandalf's usual guitar skills. The same
can be said of the track "Dreamscapes Part 2" and to a lesser
extent "Dancing Butterflies". This track begins with piano then
builds, with good percussion, into a dramatic ending.
The rest of this album is high quality New Age/sound track type
of music, all of which portray the titles well. This album can't
be faulted.
