On this, the follow up to "From Source To Sea", we find Gandalf
on familiar ground and as the subtitle suggests this album is
full of symphonic masterpieces.
Track 1, "Seed Of Seeds", with its orchestral opening with hints
of Kitaro develops into quite a powerful, complex piece which
ends with piano and synths. This is typical Gandalf and is
unmissable. This is followed by "The River Of Permanent Changes"
which is in 5 parts and opens with waves of atmospheric synths
then eventually a wonderful piano, acoustic guitar and good
percussion take over. This then links into a lively section with
good percussion and keys and eventually ends with excellent
melodic guitar and piano. This whole movement runs the gauntlet
of emotions and is, at times, powerful stuff.
"Light of The Eternal Spirit" with its gentle keys opening
develops with piano, (which reminds me of George Winston), synth
and occasional guitar. This is a very gentle type of track but
there is a lot going on here and it is complex and deep but
uncluttered. This is high quality, New Age film score type
music. "The Final Day" is an atmospheric track, very orchestral
sounding and deep, slow and dark with choir effects and
percussion although it does have a very uplifting, grand and
dramatic ending. "Invisible Power" opens with a wonderful piano
which becomes up tempo with bass, synths and eventual guitar
with hints of Tangerine Dream. This is a magical track which is
also typically Gandalf.
