The brothers are at it again. The collaborative effort of Daniel and Roland
Voss, better known as Jasmon, have collected their creative resources and are
set to release Hammock Dreams on October 26th on Lemongrass Music. Like previous
Jasmon releases, Hammock Dreams draws on ethnic sounds layered upon modern
electronica. ItÆs always a taste test for Jasmon as they experiment with worldly
flavors and add just the right spice to kick your aural palette into overdrive.
On Hammock Dreams, Jasmon has sharpened their knife and continue to lay down
more interesting cuts.
The Far East is immediately brought to life on the first track, ôBamboo Queen.ö
A jumpy pace of beats begins as layer upon layer of identifiable regional sounds
are added. ôPrince of Persiaö reduces the tempo with a great creation of more
sounds from around Planet Earth. It kicks with a heavy beat and the nice piano
keys lead to an original piece of work. Indian vocals are added to a hip-hop
sound on ôMaria.ö This track proves to be one of the many highlights on Hammock
Dreams with its great invention of fused sounds. ôLotus Loveö is an old world
sounding love song with an emotional feel. The piano chorus is traditional and
immediately becomes immersed in an uncharacteristic electronic beat that just
plain works. As the album progresses through the 15 total tracks, the listener
is introduced to a meditation of sounds like ôChantö and ôGarden of Peace.ö The
work takes on an ambient, new age feeling that truly transports the listener to
the localities that inspired such a creative album.
Hammock Dreams holds a variety of sounds from the danceable to the relaxing that
mixes a wide range of genres. DonÆt expect the expected here because you will be
surprised from one track to the next.
