Release Notes:
With the Beatles humming into one ear and Jeff
Buckley wailing into the other, The New Kentucky
Quarter craft songs that marry the timeless pop
breeziness of the former with the urgency and
honesty of the latter. Melodic guitar lines and warm
harmonies drive the memorable, affecting songs
forward while jangly six-strings, fuzzy Wurlitzers,
and a classy rhythm section fill the remaining
spaces with tasteful restraint. After their 2004
debut "Simple Things" won two Madison Area Music
Awards, The New Kentucky Quarter is now promoting
the release of their infectious five-song EP "Carry
It Around".
"Madison's TNKQ pursues pretty pop perfection on its
new EP, 'Carry It Around'. The title track has
enough guitar and keyboard aura to lend an edge,
while the vocal harmonies make the song soar. In
true pop fashion, things are kept compact and to the
point, with nary a wasted note or sentiment." -- The
Onion
"The New Kentucky Quarter waft and quiver artfully
on 'Carry It Around', their new CD of gorgeous,
deliberately paced indie and Americana sounds." --
The Isthmus
ôEvery time I see them the promise of new songs
becomes more tantalizing, each with brilliantly
realized lyrics and melodies that go straight to
your head, not to mention your heart." -- Rick's
Cafe
"Seldom do I have the pleasure of reviewing music of
such brilliant unconventionality. At times, the
murmuring weave of guitars, keys, and angelic co-ed
harmonies entrance the listener with a pop sensation
that is unforgettable. Of course the big, emotional
sound is dreamy, but at the end of the day, I'm
still humming the chorus--I love it!" -- Ryan
Hoffer, Shut Eye Records
