| | As Ram celebrates 15 years bringing quality | |
| | Drum & Bass to the scene, there is another | |
| | label that is not to be forgotten: Ant Miles' | |
| | Liftin' Spirits imprint, which served as both | |
| | a sister-label to Ram and an outlet for some | |
| | of the deeper Jungle and DnB coming from the | |
| | camp. The thing is, as the years have gone | |
| | on, the releases on this label have been | |
| | sparse... but this does not mean Ant hasn't | |
| | been working. Over the last 5 years or so, he | |
| | has been collaborating with the likes of | |
| | Andy C, Shimon, Boneshaker, Sparfunk and | |
| | others, as well as vocalists like Sare X and | |
| | the mighty Diane Charlemagne, and this 2xCD | |
| | is bringing forth some of those jams, mixed | |
| | by the label head himself. | |
| | | |
| | Dancefloors have already been demolished by | |
| | the funk in cuts like "Apparition" and | |
| | "Erazerhead" (featuring Andy C and Shimon, | |
| | respectively), and there's a host of other | |
| | gems on here: Charlemagne lends her signature | |
| | voice to the intro cut "Tear It Up", Ant | |
| | Miles & Boneshaker step up and knock out a | |
| | bangin' VIP of Boneshaker's "Watch The | |
| | Skies", and Ant drops some grimey sounds to | |
| | Red One's "Believe In U". The sound is a bit | |
| | more "Ram" than the classic Liftin' Spirits | |
| | sound, but Ant still knows how to let his | |
| | moodier side breathe, especially on cuts like | |
| | "Visitation", which is one of the gems of | |
| | this album. | |
| | | |
| | The second disc takes it back to the | |
| | archives, bringing forth some gems that | |
| | should have many old school fans reminiscing | |
| | on days gone by. Classic cuts like Ant & | |
| | Andy's "Soon Come", the Splash Remix of | |
| | Stakka & K. Tee's "Rugged 'N' Raw", Ant & Red | |
| | One's remix of "The Futurist" and many more | |
| | staples are brought out, and are all | |
| | unmixed. If you are a fan and need these | |
| | tracks, or are new to the label and would | |
| | like to get a history lesson, get on it! | |
