1. Marvin Gaye - WhatÆs Going On (Truth & Rights Remix)
ôFather, father, we donÆt need to escalate, you see, war is not the answer, for
only love can conquer hate, you know weÆve got to find a way, to bring some
lovinÆ here todayö
2. Edwin Starr - War (The Buzz Remix)
ôWar I despise, æcos it means destruction of innocent lives, war means tears to
thousands of motherÆs eyes, when their sons gone to fight and lose their livesö
æWhatÆs Going On (Truth & Rights Remix)Æ is a clever mashup of the vocal from
Marvin GayeÆs eternal Soul anthem æWhatÆs Going OnÆ and the melodic Reggae music
from Johnny OsbourneÆs æTruth & RightsÆ. ItÆs a blend so inspired and seamless
that I even started imaging MarvinÆs voice had had a Jamaican accent all along.
ItÆs not dissimilar to æPolice & ThievesÆ and perhaps even better than MarvinÆs
original, which is some achievement! æWar (The Buzz Remix)Æ isnÆt better than
the original or as good as the A-side but itÆs still a damn fine bootleg. Edwin
StarrÆs muscular vocals are laid over a funky instrumental called æThe BuzzÆ
(From a compilation of the same name).
