In arabian 'soomood' means resistance and defying evil.
The band is inspired by many cultures and music genres, at the same
time creating its own original and inimitable style. Rasm Al
Mashan, Soomoods vocalist from Yemen, has a remarkable and
intriguing voice and a very interesting personality; elements of
oriental arabian music are her contribution to the band.
With Rasms poetic lyrics and with hard, but often also sensuous
music of Piotr äLalaô Lewicki and Malgorzata äTeklaô Tekiel, the
band forms a really curious combination of cultures. Soomoods
members are known for playing in some other well-established Polish
bands and participating in various musical projects; now they all
live in Krakow.
We hope, that our music will bring many unforgetable immpresions.
We present you new release of our label. This is just an incredible
sound of Arabic folklore music merged with tones of European
guitar, and electronics.
Monumental phrases like mountainous minarets are interweaving with
the lyrics of the songs, which give you a feeling of desert sands.
However the guitar as well as electronic tones reminds you that
under this layer there is something more disturbing.
