'The Cost' was originally released in 1993 alongside The Black
Dog's groundbreaking 'Temple Of Transparent Balls' album on the
GPR label. 14 years later, Soma fittingly prepare to re-release
one of the albums that influenced the label's very existence.
'Cost I' is a bouncy slice of electronica, verging on hip hop at
times, full of cross-rhythmic melodies and an infectious groove,
dodging genre as only The Black Dog do so well. 'Cost II',
meanwhile, is slightly more uptempo in its beats, but much more
ambient in its flow. This was one of the defining tracks of The
Black Dog in its original guise. 'The Actor And Audience' ups the
pace further. An insanely infectious cut of breakbeat madness
before 'Sharp Shooting On Saturn' brings you back down with a
track that's as nostalgic as it is futuristic.
