Rare funk and soul from Miami, Florida 1968-74
Somewhere, on the web:
Well, we have decided to venture once again across the
Atlantic ocean, but this time to Miami, Florida, and have
come back with a sensational selection of the rarest funk
and soul pieces from 1968 - 1974. It is going to take the
title "Miami Sound" (SJRCD/LP72: Release date 24th March
2003). This compilation album packs in 17 tracks and will
come with loads of unique photos and the usual essential
sleevenotes, you've all come to love. We've included the 2
definitive funk versions of "Got to be a man" by Helene
Smith and Frank Williams, as well as the breakbeat classics
"Cramp your style" by All the People and the ever fresh
sounding "90% of me" by Gwen McCrae. George McCrae's "I get
lifted" is thrown in which is always a delight to hear. For
those of you who have a soft spot for the classic "Save me",
then you've got a real nice treat in store with James Knight
and the Butlers take on it. Mighty good. "Miami Sound" also
features Little Beaver at his funky best and many more
besides. I'm thinking Miami might be my kinda place. Watch
for this one.
