we can't imagine most of these tunes actually being played at a
dance -- but that's a good thing too, given how complicated and
progressive they are! the ep features 5 new entries from
up-and-coming tru thoughts act hint -- one of the more soul-based
artists to hit the label in recent years, working here with both
touches of hip hop and neo soul on some of the vocals -- but then
breaking into more abstract territory on some of the
instrumentals. rhythms are often a bit more rough-edged, but never
too far out -- just nicely a break from the norm, and not just a
simple fusing of a few common elements. titles include "mutes &
drops", "snake patrol", "at the dance", "i silverfish", and "keep
your shirt on".
