New York's Rvng lead the way in specially commissioned re-edit EPs
and mix CDs for collectors and enthusiasts who appreciate the true
art and quality of an actual record. As well as this artistic
ethic, they have succeeded in getting the early work from the cream
of tomorrow's tastemaker producers, Mock & Toof joining the company
of Tim Sweeney and Betty Botox on the NRDS roll call. "Digit 3" is
a super-eminent extension of "Agboju Logun" by Shina Williams & His
African Percussionists (you might know the original from Supersound
#9) which makes the most of the weird electronic African groove,
isolating the vocals to a bit part. "Digit 1" takes the influential
post punk of Wire's "Three Girl Rhumba" to its logical conclusion
as a new wave disco anthem and "Digit 2" dusts down another
alternative 1977 tune by turning the groove from "Good Morning
Judge" by Stockport's finest 10cc into a full on boogie joint.
