Formed in 2001 in the small town of Kristiansund on the
northwest coast of Norway, the band consisted of four 19 year
old friends Jonas Dahl, Arne Kvalvik, Kjetil Ovesen and ┼dne
Meisfjord.
They called themselves The Beautiful People, moved to a used
motor garage in Oslo, where they rehearsed themselves to
space. Early in 2004 the band released a critically praised
3-song EP titled "Sedated Times" on the small Oslo label
Public Demand Records. Later in 2004 they released their
second EP, which caused quite a stir in Norway. Soon the band
was playing large gigs like NorwayÆs By:Larm and
╓ya festivals, EnglandÆs Reading and Leeds festivals, and
SpainÆs SONAR festival. After changing their name to 120 Days,
the band soon found a home with Smalltown Supersound.
ABOUT THE MUSIC
120 Days looks toward a new dawn of electronic rock: built by
vintage keyboards, colored by drones and noise, powered by
guitars, and propelled, in lieu of a drummer, by a motorik
beat synched with Kraftwerk and NEU! Other touchstones and
inspirations include Suicide, Stereolab, Spaceman 3, Lou
ReedÆs Metal Machine Music, Steve ReichÆs Four Organs, Primal
ScreamÆs XTRMNTR, The Stooges, New Order and Harmonia.
