Release Notes:
Singer-songwriter-pianist-producer Gentry Bronson
has been compared to Tom Waits, Tori Amos, Ryan
Adams, David Gray, Billy Joel and Nick Cave, but
throughout his career, Gentry has continued to be
completely original, proving himself as a pop
craftsman, composer and showman.
Gentry began playing piano at age 5, won several
Minnesota Music Teachers Association awards for
piano performance by junior high school, started
singing in his first garage band at age 15, and
moved to the US West coast a week after his 18th
birthday. He tried his hand at avante garde jazz,
spoken word, and DJing, before returning to what he
knew best: telling a story with music and laying
everything on the line while on stage.
In 2000, he won three Northern California
Songwriters Association awards. Then, in 2001,
Gentry put together a group of musicians and
founded the Night Watchmen, a band that combined
the late night worlds of rock, pop, jazz, and
cabaret. The group developed a wide reaching group
of fans, but in 2005 he retired the band.
Driven by an indie ethic, Gentry has released seven
records since 2001. This new solo album ôNo War"
was co-produced in Northern California by Gentry
and Scott Llamas (Deflator Mouse, Tragedy Andy).
He calls "No War" his Star Wars trilogy record.
Gentry has performed around the world and is not
slowing down. His dramatic and soulful
performances continue to receive rave reviews. And
his varied music releases cross over many
boundaries, building fans in the rock, pop, folk,
jazz, blues, ambient and new age genres.
