If you have been waiting for the next french wave of
housers to appear, you should make yourself aware of
lanoiraude, the freshest talent of the thriving french
underground techno/house scene.
Lanoiraude, sweet joke attributed by close friends ever
since school, is a nickname chosen for its spirit of
lightness ( a ½noiraude╗ is a black cow, hero of a cartoon
from the 80Æs ! ).
Arnaud owes a good deal of his passion to DJ Boo, his
brother, who orchestrated the first parisian hip-hop
parties alongside Dee Nasty or RLP in 1988. But itÆs also
with his famous uncle Didier Malherbe from the legendary
band ½Gong╗ that he discovers psychedelic music.
He buys his first turntable and Beat Street vinyl when
heÆs only 12 years old. He realises quickly that heÆs
interested in all musical genres: from funk/rap to zouk to
classical jazz, eclectism is what matters, as long as it
sounds right and tightà
In 1993, while partying on beaubourgÆs roof in Paris,
lanoiraude plunges into techno music. During this year, as
a turning point of his life, he discovers the power of the
sound from Detroit thanks to Djs such as Derrick May and
records such as ½Minimal nation╗ by Robert Hood. Step by
step, he retraces the history of house music and
understands the origin of this powerful music.
Ranging from Techno to Disco, Broken Beat, US Garage and
club classics, his musical inspirations allow him to
experiment with all kind of tempos and vibes, both in his
DJ sets and productions.
In 1999, with basic equipment, Lanoiraude started
producing his first tracks at home.
His music is a journey into smoked up dubby atmospheres
weaved with hypnotic sounds. These compositions, both
soulful and atmospheric attract the independent Parisian
labels.
ItÆs a friendly encounter that connects him to the
Missive team in 2000. His first 12ÆÆ, ½Love Linge╗, is
released in June 2001. Following the positive feedback
received from press and, most importantly audience,
Lanoiraude drops a second 12ÆÆ named ½Waitin╗, with the
great Charles Webster.
From this time, many releases ensued on different labels
such as ½Dialect/Battle╗ (with Mike.L),
and the emerging brand new electro label ½Initial Cuts╗,
including remixes by techno killer Fabrice Lig.
All those records gaining support from great Djs/producers
such as Laurent Garnier, Ewan pearson, Rob Mello, Rainer
Truby, Idjut boys, Angel Molina and many moreà
