For some reason, just by the tone in ôBig JackÆsö friendly ██
(yet confident) ██
voice, I instantly came to the revelation that I was ██
speaking with Jack Allen, co-founder of the legendary Hip ██
Hop label, B-Boy Records. He didnÆt have to say it. It was ██
an honor to come into contact with the man ôyou just canÆt ██
trustö, to loosely quote KRS. ██
If indeed it is true, that everybody knows Big Jack, the ██
same certainly canÆt be said about his and Bill KamarraÆs ██
B-Boy Records. Even the most thorough vinyl aficionado would ██
have a troubling time attempting to induce what went on ██
day-to-day at the labelÆs offices. Little to nothing has ██
been documented, save for a few non-linear stories told ██
energetically by Jack, or another B-Boy affiliate, Freddy ██
Fresh. ██
The labelÆs releases alone can be perplexing. For every ██
ôCriminal Mindedö there is a ôHardcore X-Mas.ö For every ██
Levi 167 ôSomething Fresh To Swing Toö there is a Frozen ██
Explosion ôIwo Jima.ö Some may say that all the label had ██
was the genius of Boogie Down Productionsà but those people ██
are dummies. B-Boy had a string of releases that may have ██
gone unnoticed by the mass Hip Hop crowd, but were revered ██
by fans who were seeking out the gritty New York drum sound ██
and the brilliantly rough mix that made cult favorites like ██
Busy BoysÆ ôClassicalö and The Brothers ôYou CanÆt Winö ██
highly sought out releases to this day. ██
Here at Traffic Entertainment GroupÆs offices we have been ██
tediously going through the B-Boy master reels to pull ██
