French songwriter Corinne Douarre is part of the new
generation of french chanson. Together with her musicians she
plays with the fundaments of the genres chanson, pop, ambient
sounds. Part of her music is urban and , part of it is
romantic and melancholic. In the center of these chansons is
Corinne Douarre who sings in French and German. Her lyrics are
modern, her themes current.
Corinne Douarres chansons are born on the road. In a train to
Paris, in the Berlin subway, on a lawn in the sun. They appear
from the encounter of a bell with a piano, a drum loop with an
accordeon, an african Kalimba with her voice, an electric
guitar with an electricity black out.
On stage, supported by her band, Corinne Douarre creates her
own world, evoking emotions and atmospheres and taking the art
of the chanson in new directions. Her distinctive personality
is clearly audible on her latest CD Virages, where bends in
the road act as a metaphor for the path through life.
05/01/08 ciel XXL, Corinne Douarres new CD, will be released
March 2008 on kook.
