In a city of 25 million people you would expect a
form of underground to start to build and
surprisingly it sounds as though there is a
heavily British electronica influence to it.
            The underlying music is definitely
Mexican/Spanish/Barrio in its origins but the
treatment has a real trance vibe to it as well.
Mexican Institute of Sound is actually one man
"Camilo Lara" and his noodling and reworking here
has the feel of a movement. There is no single
sound to attribute to the cd - each track is
treated in its own manner and accordingly the
whole album feels like a night on the dancefloor.
There is a lot of humour in the versioning and I
found that the constant switching from one set of
rhythms to another - Cha-Cha-Cha to swing to samba
to dub to electronica to Cha-Cha-Cha to groove et
al û had my bum twitching like a mad thing as I
            was constantly changing in mid-tune.
