| RockArt, featuring Hilton Schilder with Alex van |
| Heerden, is a progressive outfit that brings |
| together the ancient indigenous sounds of the Cape |
| and futuristic electronic production. Formed late |
| in 2002, RockArt's ethos is to fuse Cape Jazz and |
| Khoi sounds with intelligent electronica. While the |
| line-up has gone through some changes since RockArt |
| first got together, the unique, cutting edge |
| compositions have remained a constant. |

| Composer and multi-instrumentalist, Hilton |
| Schilder, who has been a cornerstone of many |
| musical outfits including the Goema Captains of |
| Cape Town, the Genuines, Sons of Table Mountain - |
| and now RockArt, has been defining himself and his |
| world through music his whole life. And in |
| 2002first breathed life into his dream which he |
| called RockArt. His aim was to create an outfit |
| that would explore the space where contemporary |
| jazz-based music, the indigenous music of his |
| Khoisan ancestors and electronica overlaped. |
| |
| From it's earliest beginnings as a full band |
| featuring Hilton and accompanying musicians on |
| guitar, bass, drums and vocals, with electronic |
| input from DJ/producer Andre Manuel, to it's |
| present day form - Hilton accompanied by producer, |
| Alex van Heerden , who also cut his teeth playing |
| with Cape Town's jazz greats and honed his |
| electronic music production skills under the |
| mentorship of European producers, Hakan Lidbo - |
| RockArt has journeyed through stories of slavery to |
| songs of healing and tribute. |

| On this album you will hear wonderful sounds, |
| ranging from the haunting thoughts of Anna Bongelo |
| of the Kouebokkeveld as she sings about her Bitter |
| Lewe, to a terrifying Cape Flats diatribe in |
| Ladies' Night in Car--Atom, to celebrations, |
| tributes like Duiwepiek and Russel. |
