RELEASE NOTES
Emily Elisabeth Dickinson (1830-1886) was an American Poet. Though
virtually unknown in her lifetime, Dickinson has come to be
regarded, along with Walt Whitman, as one of the two
quintessential American poets of the 19th century.
Dickinson was also somewhat of a loner. She lived an introverted
and hermetic life, and spent almost all of her life in her
family's house in Amherst, Massachusetts. Although she wrote, at
the last count, 1789 poems, only 10 of them were published during
her lifetime.
Because of her frequent use of rhyme and free verse, many of
Dickinson's poems have become songs. Famous American composers
such as Aaron Copland, John Adams and Michael Tilson Thomas, to
name but a few, have all set music to her words. Nevertheless, I
might be the first jazz-drummer to make a whole album using her
lyrics? I'm not sure, but anyway: Here are my songs, my musical
version of the World Of Emily. Hope you like them.
Enjoy!
