███▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀ - RELEASE NOTES - ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀███
█░ ░█
█░ "The Minikon series of electronic entertainment is ░█
█░ dedicated to family fun at home or on the go. Our goal is ░█
█░ to make the Minikon series pleasurable to both young and old ░█
█░ by introducing fresh ideas and maintaining high quality ░█
█░ standards at an affordable price. That's the minikon ░█
█░ difference!" -Minikon.com blip ░█
█░ ░█
█░ "Minikon s the project of James White, who is not Japanese ░█
█░ (as you might have assumed from the artwork on the CD) ░█
█░ [note: i'd say it looks like an american attempt at japanese ░█
█░ styles], but from Jacksonville, FL. His love of electronic ░█
█░ music began when he discovered the legendary Japanese band ░█
█░ Yellow Magic Orchestra and it grew from there - his more ░█
█░ recent influences include video game music (especially ░█
█░ Nintendo!), Aphex Twin, Autechre, Squarepusher, and more ░█
█░ recent IDM acts like Casino Vs. Japan, Arovande or the Audio ░█
█░ Dregs roster (Dim Dim, E*Vax, etc.). White's goal with ░█
█░ Minikon was to create an electronic album that was at once ░█
█░ childish and complicated, with the focus being on melody, ░█
█░ melody, melody and more melody. It's clear he has succeeded ░█
█░ with his goal and created the perfect soundtrack for ░█
█░ floating around on giant pink marshmallows. This is the ░█
█░ first release from the KiraKira Disc record label, which is ░█
█░ also based in Florida." -PR blip ░█
█░ ░█
█░ Wow, it looks like this album is yet to go "retail", and ░█
█░ for that I am both sad and excited. Sad that you cannot buy ░█
█░ it, and excited that we here at Chromance can put the music ░█
█░ in your ears first. I wouldn't really say this is too ░█
█░ reminiscent of much J-Pop, except in the joy behind the ░█
█░ music. Definitely more in the vein of the ░█
█░ non-creepy-eat-you-alive Aphex Twin, and at times a bit like ░█
█░ Orbital (#4 especially). Perhaps the IDM version of Casino ░█
█░ vs. Japan. Perhaps. ░█
█░ ░█
