Release Notes:
UK import and a great little find! Best way to
convince you is listen below but we'll try. This
most reminds us the very first Tom Petty & The
Hearkbreakers album from 1976, but you'll hear
Minibar, Orgone Box, Kings Of Leon in here. The
singer sounds like a power pop version of Ronnie Van
Zandt singing Blue Ash and early 70's Neil Young
songs. It's a most unique, but wholly accessible
sound again best listened to below, but man this one
is slaying more and more upon each listen. Bravo
Johnson is spawning a musical hybrid, grafting
together from musical traditions both old and new.
"Sacrifice Yourself" is an austere and edgy
piano-based dirge. A heartfelt lament for your
brother-wolf and sister-moon that sounds like it was
sung around a bonfire in an Indian camp, in the
small hours. "Are You Dreaming" is layered with
harmonies, fuzzy guitars, trippy organ and
mumbo-jumbo lyrics. No song can evoke lysergic
nostalgia better than this. It is a reeling, urgent
declaration of youthful idleness and arrogance.
"Killer Nerd" recovers hazy recollections of Lewis
Carrol-inspired dreams of childhood with brutal
psychedelic flashbacks of Mark Chapman on its way to
the Dakota Apartments. ""Aimlessly Drifting" debute
band-less excursion oozes class, craftmanship and
confidence. Laid back and performed with sumptuous
ease, "Lush" and "Change Your Ways" are based upon
lazy, summery arrangements, fluid playing and
perhaps the most potent ingredient of all:
Impressive tunesmith."- Hornsey Journal. It's clear
as the layers of this album sink further beneath
this surface, it's a big, big keeper and has an
unambigous two very, very big fattened thumbs up!
