Within a short time and armed with only a bedroom demo, Letters Burning gained
over 15,000 plays on Myspace, forwards to many record labels and publishing
companies thru the A&R service Taxi, and rotation on over 50 podcasts around the
globe. Building up a fan-base through these successes, the band began to hone
their sound through numerous live shows at legendary L.A. venues such as the
Whisky, the Knitting Factory, and the Hard Rock Cafe. In order to capture the
power of these shows, the band entered Infrasonic Studios, known for recording
innovative bands such as the Mars Volta and Saosin, to record their debut EP,
"Almost Midnight".
Combining the vocal styles of successful bands like Fall Out Boy and Incubus
with upbeat riffing reminiscent of Taking Back Sunday and Hawthorne Heights, the
band creates a sound that is easy to get into and hard to forget. Their
energetic live show features guitarists Cory Barker and Gabe Kubanda providing
intricate vocal layers that support Tal Mir's brash and unmistakable singing.
Locking in with these elements are the Zeppelin-esque drumming of J. Mark
Stanley and driving bass lines of Jerry Morales.
With music described as "cohesive and structurally sound with a good attention
to dynamics" by the industry veterans at Taxi and "face meltingly good" by the
