In the Spring of 2005, Jim Keaney (vocals/guitar) and Ted Carlson (drums/vocals)
wrote and recorded The Appreciation Post's first demo with roommate/guitarist
Scott Morganella (also of Junction 18) in the livingroom of their Boston
apartment. Heavy on melody, the songs set sincere vocals over thick distorted
guitars. Generous with Moog synthesizers, they created interesting layers, while
keeping it all catchy as hell. After recruiting friends Vietnam Le (bass) and
Roger Lussier (Moogs), The Appreciation Post formed and played their first show,
opening a nearly sold-out concert for Sweden's Mando Diao in Boston.
The band honed their unique sound and stage presence, touring across the East
coast & Midwest, opening for bands such as Dashboard Confessional, The Forecast,
Men Women & Children & hundreds more. After Morganella left the band in
mid-2006, Brad Herrick joined as guitarist.
Most of the next Summer was spent touring the states, including an appearance on
the 2006 Vans Warped Tour, they completed their debut CD EP Brighter Sides,
produced by Mike Poorman (Hot Rod Circuit/Piebald) at Strangeways Studios in
Burlington, VT. Despite broken gear, broken vans & broken bones, The
Appreciation Post have closed the book on a mighty impressive first year. With
the release of their new EP approaching (Feb 23rd), the band is gearing up to
hit the road once again to rock your shitty town's face off.
