Rippers Notes:
Psychedelia for the Post-9/11 Generation. Glasgow 4-
piece The Fast Camels debut album, "The Magic
Optician", recorded completely live using vintage
equipment and an old analogue mixing console,
lovingly creates a collection of songs that sound as
if they could be long lost tracks from some of the
classic psychedelic albums of the 60s (Love's
"Forever Changes", Pink Floyd's "Pipers At The Gates
Of Dawn", "The Who Sell Out"). But these are not mere
copies or pastiches of the originals - they are
brought sharply into the now with cutting lyrics,
eerie sound effects and edgy guitar riffs, combined
with an underlying feeling of paranoia and dread....
"an intriguing mix of Barrett-era Pink Floyd, The
Pretty Things psych-pop period, lots of Rubbles bands
and small dollops of Forever Changes period Love"
