Release Notes:
His band Rosavelt never got the wide recognition it
deserved. Great music... for sure. Great reviews...
plenty. But gold records... no, not in a long way.
Their mix of Rolling Stones (Exile On Main Street,
Sticky Fingers), Wilco and the Replacements never
ceased to amaze those people who got the chance to
hear them. But commercial success eluded the
Cleveland, Ohio band. Finally it all took its toll
and the band called it quits.
But now Chris Allen, the heart and soul of Rosavelt,
is back. In a big way. With his first solo album on
which he adds, in his own words, Tom Waits, Graham
Parker and Tom Petty to that volatile
Stones/Wilco/Replacements mix of Rosavelt.
Thoughtful and mature lyrics (Waits meets Raymond
Carver), strong melodies, great songs. It's produced
by Don Dixon, who was responsible for the first and
best R.E.M. records.
Chris Allen is currently touring America and we hope
he'll visit Europe and the Netherlands next year.
Till then: listen to Goodbye Girl and The Big Apple
Circus. We are sure that after you've heard it a
couple of times you'll agree with us. This is a very
special record.
